Revelation 18:14-33 also uses the words “dainty” and “goodly” to describe part of Mystery Babylon.” Dainty is Greek a word that connotes 24-hour parties and is connected with orgies plus debauchery. The Greek word for goodly is lampera but does not make sense unless it interprets in one specific manner. The English word “lamp” is derived from lampera, In this case it carries the idea of entertainment. Mystery Babylon is also noted for its sorceries, meaning illicit drug use. The word “sorcery” often means poisoner, or witchcraft, but it can also mean illicit drug use, heroin, and so forth.
In Revelation 17:18, Mystery Babylon is an international city because it says where the world’s leaders go assemble themselves together. Saudi Arabia is home to the Kaaba, Islam’s holiest site. That hits it right on the head. Other characteristics of Mystery Babylon are that it has a connection to immigrants. Fifteen million Muslims visit Mecca annually.
Chariots and slaves are mentioned in Revelation 18:19. Thinking about them and the time period may bring thoughts about being hurt in three-wheeled chariots. However, in the Greek and this situation, it actually means four-wheeled chariots–modern automobiles.
“Souls of men” (Revelation 18:13) refers to slaves, today’s Saudi Arabia has slavery and prostitution across the nation, especially in the large cities.
And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth (Revelation 18:24).
Babylon, in Scripture, is being shown as the accumulation of the entire Babylonian system.
Records of Revelation 18:12 tell of the merchandise that is imported, made, wholesaled, or exported from Mystery Babylon. Items listed are gold, silver, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, and all thyine wood.
… and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men (Revelation 18:12-13).
As already explained, the chariots, four-wheeled carriages, are automobiles. Something of utmost importance is that when Babylon is destroyed, these merchants (the great men of the earth) see this from afar off. Hence, the entire world will see when Mystery Babylon is destroyed.
From what the Bible illustrates, Mystery Babylon becomes the habitation of every foul spirit. Mecca is Mystery Babylon and influences the entire Islamic world.
In Isaiah 21:9, Isaiah levels a prophetic oracle against Babylon using the announcement in Revelation 18:1-2 and Revelation 14:8: “Babylon is fallen, is fallen”: Iran (biblical Elam) must destroy Arabia.
“The burden against Dumah” (Isaiah 21:11)
“The burden against Arabia” (Isaiah 21:13)
“All the glory of Kedar will fail” (Isaiah 21:16)
These are all in Arabia, which is destroyed by Iran “Elam.” (Isaiah 21:2)
